Profile Information

In 100 words or less tell us how you are a leader
I have always had a deep interest in impacting policies that affect women and minorities. From my work as the chief fundraiser of Amethyst, Inc., a gender-competent addiction treatment agency serving homeless women and their children, to being a member of the Columbus, OH chapter of Zonta International, an organization of women executives and professionals with a mission to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. I have worked to align my personal and professional life with organizations that have vested interests in advocating for women and minorities. I also sit on the Eldon Ward YMCA Board of Directors, a YMCA that provides scholarships to roughly 40% of its members and represents a predominantly African American community on the East side of Columbus.

Heather,

How are you, I was thinking about you today. It's amazing!, we all had the best intentions of keeping in touch, but I I have not been as faithful as I had wished. I will be in Columbus early next month, maybe we can get together for coffee , hope all is well.

You go girl, I love to hear women on the go. My latest news is I am a volunteer with Children's Disaster Services. It is part of my missionary work in the States. I have accepted the responds to the flooding and destruction in Indiana today and leaving for 2-3 weeks. A team of four will be working with children in the shelter/assistance center in Martinsville, IN. The hotels are full of evacuees with no room for volunteers. Red Cross is provided housing at a church and I am to bring a sleeping bag. We need your prayers for a safe drive and stay in Indiana. Its all about helping your neighbor.

Women Rule!
Warmest welcome from a sister and friend,
Who will stand with you in spirit to the very end.
What a powerful witness you have to share,
So know that this sister will lift you up with prayers.
Be encouraged and hopeful in every way,
Feel free to whisper, sing or shout joyfully throughout the day:
Women rule!
If we band together in one clear voice,
We can crescendo together in a joyful noise.
The melody of women, who collaborate and work together,
Will send a resounding message that will last forever.
Women rule!

PS: Please feel free to grace my page with your words of wisdom, a poem, a thought or even a kind word of encouragement for all women to see. Blessings to you now and always!

Heather,
Policies are what dictate our lives in this country...so I hope that you take your interest to the next step so that you can be the one to make the policies.
Also, Zonta International does great work at the United Nations...you should ask to be one of the official delegates to the next UN Commission on the Status of Women Conference next March at UN HQ in New York.
